Sunny Hills and Orange Lutheran boys basketball teams notched quarterfinal round victories Thursday night to move into the semifinals of tonight’s inaugural Rumble for Rosecrans Avenue Tournament at Sunny Hills.
Both teams are off to 3-0 starts.
Sunny Hills, behind a 24-point performance of junior Wilson Cal, defeated Yorba Linda 58-47 while Orange Lutheran topped Troy 58-52.
Here’s the semifinal schedule for tonight (Friday, Nov. 16):
Gold division bracket: Consolation, Yorba Linda vs. Troy at Sunny Hills, 3 p.m.; West Torrance vs. Beckman, 3 p.m. at Norwalk; Championship, Sunny Hills vs. Orange Lutheran, 7:30 p.m. at Sunny Hills; La Habra vs. Sonora, 7:30 p.m. at Norwalk.
Silver division bracket: Consolation, St. Margaret’s vs. University, 4:30 p.m. at Sunny Hills; Santa Fe vs. Paramount, 4:30 p.m. at Norwalk; Championship, California vs. Esperanza, 6 p.m. at Sunny Hills; ML King vs. Warren, 6 p.m. at Buena Park.
Bronze division bracket:Â Consolation, Buena Park vs. Kennedy, 3 p.m. at Buena Park; Oxford Academy vs. Foothill, 4:30 p.m. at Buena Park; Montebello vs. Glenn, 7:30 p.m. at Buena Park; Norwalk vs. El Segundo, 6 p.m. at Norwalk.
The 24-team tournament wraps up on Saturday with the championship game at 7:30 p.m. at Sunny Hills.
