One last game for Warriors

Joanna Michaels (left) and Hannah Sasaki joined Woodbridge Coach Jerry Rose at the Orange County all-star softball game.

Woodbridge’s Joanna Michaels and Hannah Sasaki played their final high school softball game last month in the Orange County all-star softball game at Bill Barber Park and one of the coaches was Warrior coach Jerry Rose.

Rose said the two players will be missed a lot at Woodbridge. The Warriors captured the Pacific Coast League title this past season.

“It’s been a great ride,” Rose said. “A lot of them (the all-stars) know each other from travel (ball) and league competition so to be able to show off their talents out here one last time is a great opportunity for everybody and all the parents get to come.”

The Green team, consisting of players from the Trinity and Freeway Leagues, defeated the Orange team, which included players from the Pacific Coast League, Crestview League and Orange League 9-5 on June 5.

Sasaki, who is headed to University of Illinois, walked two times and Michaels, who is off to Bowling Green University, reached once on a walk.
