Troy fell to 0-4 overall.
“Offensively we were efficient moving the ball behind our offensive line and the leadership of Angel Vega at quarterback,” said Segerstrom Coach Joseph Tagaloa. “We got on the board early from the first play from scrimmage when Vega connected with Anthony Gomez for a 62-yard touchdown pass.
“This got our offense going, as we proceeded to score on our next two drives. The ground game was led by Nathan Tagaloa as he averaged over five yards a carry. “
Vega completed 9 of 11 passes for 254 yards and five touchdowns.
“He did a good job putting the ball in our play makers’ hands,” Tagaloa said. “Four different wide receivers had touchdown catches: Anthony Gomez, Iverson Fuiava, Andrew Schouw (two), and Douglas Lopez.”
Tagaloa said the Jaguars’ special teams were outstanding.
“Farid Partida blocked a punt and then returned it for a touchdown,.” he said. “Diego Perez and Anthony Gomez both did their job kicking as Perez was perfect on his PAT’s and Gomez had two touch backs.
“Defensively our boys played collectively and hard. Our defensive front really played well led by Pablo Flores, Christian Hernandez, Saul Ramirez, and Julian Torres. They squeezed the ball and put pressure on Troy’s offense all night. Andrew Schouw had two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
“All in all, it was a good night, one in which we were able to get all our guys in, who all played extremely hard.”
