Rain, lightning and thunder postpone Irvine-University PCL football game

University players head for cover following a lightning strike Friday at Uni.

The Irvine-University football game has been postponed because of rain and lightning.

There was a 20-minute rain delay and then officials called the game because of lighting in the area.

The game is scheduled to be made up Saturday at 4 p.m. at Uni.

Irvine and University were warming up before tonight’s Pacific Coast League football game and heavy rains and lighting struck.

Both teams were ordered into their locker-rooms.

University coach Scott Meyer said his team was ordered into cover by the school trainer.

At Tustin, Woodbridge and Beckman are under way after a 20-minute delay.
