Fountain Valley’s football team has been led by versatile senior Kishaun Sykes, the OC Sports Zone’s latest player to watch.

Sykes plays running back, wide receiver, linebacker and defensive back and he also returns kicks and punts for the Barons. Fountain Valley (4-3 overall, 2-0 in the Sunset League) plays at Huntington Beach Friday night.

On the season, Sykes has 24 catches for 497 receiving yards and 817 all purpose yards. He has 18 carries for 221 yards rushing and eight touchdowns.

“Ki can go the distance any time he touches the ball, and gets to the ball in a hurry on defense,” said Coach Jimmy Nolan. “He’s an explosive hitter. His motor never stops…to know him is to love him.  We will miss him next year.”

Nolan believes that Sykes has a promising future.

“Several colleges are showing interest,” Nolan said. “He will play somewhere next year.”
