Laguna Hills football program planning ‘Hail our Heroes’ event Friday night

Laguna Hills football team will hold its first “Hawks Hail Our Heroes” event on Friday, Sept. 28, at 5:30 p.m. at Laguna Hills before the game with Dana Hills.

The football game starts at 7 p.m.

The players and coaches will honor veterans, military, police, fire personnel and the team’s non-profit partner Team Darkhorse that supports the  Marines/Sailors and their families of USMC 3rd Battalion/5th Marines based out of Camp Pendleton.

All the veterans and service personnel will be admitted free by showing their ID, officials said. In addition, the first 40 will receive a free meal.

The event will kick-off with a speech to the team by Ret. Sgt. Marcus Chischilly.

At halftime, the cheerleaders will perform with elementary schools and the winner of the Golf Ball Drop contest will be announced.

Officials said the event is sponsored by a community grant from Walmart.
