La Habra players celebrate after winning the Freeway League title this week.
La Habra’s boys basketball team put the finishing touches on an undefeated Freeway League season, defeating Buena Park 58-24 Thursday night.
Kevin Milligan had 12 points and three 3-pointers to lead La Habra (25-2, 10-0). Christian Salazar had 11 points and three 3-pointers.
“It’s been an incredible year that’s not over yet,” said Coach Aaron Riekenberg. “We played in three tough tournaments where we finished first, second and third.
“We went 10-0 in league for the first time since 1981 during the Tex Wallace era. Anybody who knows our league knows how incredibly difficult that is to do. So proud of our guys. 17 straight wins and counting.”
La Habra will find out its opening round CIF playoff match-up on Sunday. The Highlanders were ranked third in this week’s CIF 3AA rankings.
