Bohn said he graduated from Laguna Beach High in 1996 and played for four years at Utah State (All-American in 1998) before playing five games for the Detroit Lions in 2001.

“We train year round and have put over 100 local specialists into college including current USC kicker Chase Mcgrath from Mater Dei and 2017 All American Dominic Eberle (Redondo) from Utah State University,” he said.

“Some notables include Griff Amies (Corona del Mar) who set a state record with 22 field goals in 2012, Kevin Goessling (Servite) Who was an All American at Fresno State and Vince Damato (El Toro), who started at Cal. All together, we have trained over 1,500 SoCal specialists.”

Kickers heard from a number of specialists at the camp, Bohn said.

“We also had a sports psychologist speak to them about handling nerves during important game situations,” Bohn said. “Nick Lopez (Mater Dei) and Jake Woolgar (Laguna Hills) were the top top OC performers on Sunday.”

Here is who participated and Bohn’s assessment of each player:

Senior Nick Lopez, Mater Dei: Big-time kick-off leg and can hit from 60 should the Monarchs need it.  Coming off a very successful junior season. Dominated West Coast Kicking Academy’s All-County camp. Has a 70 plus yard kick-off leg. Being recruited by Ivy league schools, and several PAC XII teams. “Nick possesses the ability to neutralize the opponents kickoff return team and is a weapon for the Monarch’s offense,” Bohn said.

Senior Chris Vartanian, St. Margaret’s: Varsity starter since freshman year.  Was third team all-county in 2017.  Performed well at West Coast Kicking Academy Camps and several Ivy league camps over the summer. Currently holds an offer from Army and is being recruited by other strong Academic institutions. “Chris continues to develop and will be a top specialist this fall. Strong kickoff leg and consistent inside 55 on FG’s.”

Junior RJ Lopez , Mission Viejo: Younger brother of Nick Lopez (Mater Dei). Transferred to Mission Viejo in the offseason (Will sit first five games). Has the best Kickoff leg in the County and is only a junior. Regularly smashes balls 70 plus yards. And has range inside 55 on FGs. Overall kickoff champion at the WCKA Head to Head Competition. “RJ has consistently demonstrated his ability to compete and has tremendous leg strength for his age.  55 plus yard FG, 70 plus yard KO’s. He will be special.”

Jake Woolgar, Laguna Hills: Coming off a very successful junior season, Jake is the Top Combo Specialist heading into the Fall.  He performed very well at several College camps this off-season and at the WCKA Head to Head Competition.  “Jake has the ability to do all three phases (FG, KO, punt) at an extremely high level and gives the Hawks a weapon on special teams,” Bohn said.

Junior Joey Rouly, Canyon:  “The Cannon” improved tremendously this offseason and possesses possibly the biggest leg in the county.  Should have a breakout year in 2018. Finished second in punting and third in kick-offs at the WCKA Head to Head Competition and All-County Camp.

Junior Jacob Garcia, St. John Bosco:  Strong-legged field goal kicker, who performed well the second half of last season.  Gives the Braves one of the better specialists in the Trinity league.  Performed exceptionally well at the WCKA Head to Head Competition.

Junior Cole Thompson, San Clemente: Starter as a Sophomore last season as the FG/KO Specialist for the Tritons.  Very accurate and consistent field goal  kicker, who has has the ability to put the ball in the end zone regularly.

Senior Charles Bein, San Clemente: Top Punter in the county coming off solid Jr. season.  Has improved his distance and Hang Time.  A top performer at the WCKA Head to Head Competition. Offer from Air Force. “Charles is a long, athletic kid with tremendous upside.  He hits the ball with great Hang time and distance.”

Senior Joey Rizkallah, Tesoro: Returns as a three-year starter for Tesoro with range from 55 plus and a solid kickoff leg.  Could be the difference in close games for the Titans.

Sr. Eloi Barajas, El Modena: Solid combo specialist who will be a game changer for Elmo this fall.

Senior Brendan Marmion, Aliso Niguel:  Has the ability to be very effective at all three specialties this Fall and will give the Wolverines a weapon in close games.

Junior Abraham Tuchman, Foothill: Provides a consistent and reliable placekicker for the Knights this fall.  Has the ability to reach the end zone on kickoffs as well.

Sophomoe Cash McVay, Servite: Could be the best sophomore in the county.  Will team up with Senior Cade Fuller to provide strength in the kicking game for the Friars.

Senior Noah Handel, Laguna Beach:  Had a consistent junior season for the Breakers and will team up with Sean Nolan to give them a solid tandem in the kicking game.
