Crean Lutheran High School’s baseball team had its season come to an end Friday when the Saints lost to Laguna Hills 4-2 in a CIF Division 5 quarterfinal round game at Laguna Hills.
Fourth-seeded Crean Lutheran, coached by Jake Haney, finished the season 23-11 and registered three playoff wins, including a 1-0 wild card victory over Rio Hondo Prep which sent them to the first round. The Saints then defeated Century 13-4 and St. Anthony 15-0.
“Even though the season ended with a tough loss, I can’t help but be thankful to God for allowing us to play 34 games. Also, I am so proud of these 12 seniors who displayed leadership and resliency to bring this program back to where we should be,” Haney said Friday night. “You can’t be disappointed when you win 23 games in high school baseball.”
Min Sung Choo was 2 for 3 with two RBI, Kanon Rabbitt was 3 for 4 with two stolen bases and George Manera pitched five innings allowing one earned run and two hits to lead the Saints.
