Uni boys basketball team wins three in a row to advance to finals of St. Margaret’s tourney

University’s boys basketball team, coached by Mike Dinneen, has won three in a row.

University’s boys basketball team has had a successful week and Saturday night, the Trojans face Newport Harbor in the championship game of the St. Margaret’s Tournament.

Tip-off is at 6 p.m.

Coach Mike Dinneen’s Trojans (6-3) have won three in a row to advance to the finals. On Tuesday, University defeated Valley Christian 66-42. Andrea Roy scored 24 points with six 3-pointers while Kody Uyesugi had 17 points and five 3-pointers.

On Wednesday, University trailed 45-39 at halftime to Saddleback Valley Christian. Then the Trojans outscored SVC 58-22 and rolled to a 97-67 victory. Roy scored 25 points and hit five 3-pointers while Uyesugi scored 21 points and had seven assists.

Will Stenta added 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists while Sam Aryan had 10 points and 14 rebounds.

On Friday night, University defeated San Juan Hills 69-60 to advance to the finals. Uyesugi led the way with 26 points and made five 3-pointers. Stenta had 19 points and 10 rebounds.
