Crean Lutheran High School officials announced that Monty Johns has been named the new head girls volleyball coach.

“CLHS is blessed to welcome Coach Johns to the Saints family. His coaching expertise and wealth of experience at the high school and club level along with his motivating spirit and love for our Lord and Savior makes him a perfect fit for the Saints,” said Athletic Director Eric Olson.

“He is a student of the game on the cutting edge of the sport who has experienced much success as a head coach. Coach Johns worships at Saddleback Church. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Master’s of Arts in curriculum development.”

Johns is a fifth grade teacher at Portola Hills Elementary.

“His education, passion for the game, and professional experience will serve him well as he organizes, directs, and leads the girls volleyball program,” Olson said.

Johns said he was “thrilled to take over the girls volleyball program at Crean Lutheran High School. The program has an excellent reputation in the volleyball community and I look forward to building upon what the previous coaches have established.

“With that in mind, my goals for the program are to help each athlete understand what it takes to compete at their highest level and understand the significance of the opportunity God has provided them as high school athletes. I am excited to start working with the staff, parents, and players at Crean Lutheran, and I am looking forward to many productive seasons.”
