FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL: Week zero wrap-up

It was a successful opener Friday night for Northwood, Portola, Woodbridge, Beckman, Crean Lutheran, Mater Dei and Trabuco Hills.

Northwood won 21-8 over Saddleback Valley Christian, Portola launched its varsity program with a 39-20 win over Fairmont Prep, Woodbridge topped Cypress, 35-14; Beckman topped Godinez 30-6 at Santa Ana Valley, Crean Lutheran defeated Temecula Prep 40-0 in Coach Randall Reynoso’s debut and Trabuco Hills defeated Corona 35-0. OC’s top team Mater Dei defeated Bishop Amat 42-14.

Foothill lost a hard-fought game to Dos Pueblos 31-24 while Tustin fell to Capistrano Valley 42-7.

Trabuco Hills scored on its first three possessions of the game. More on that game later on OC Sports Zone.
