After struggling in the non-league portion of its schedule, Foothill’s football team is healthy and back on track and aiming to win the outright North Hills League title with one game left against El Dorado Thursday at Tustin.
Foothill recorded a big 19-13 victory over Brea Olinda Friday night.
“The Knights have achieved at least a share of the North Hills League title with their victory over Brea Olinda on Friday night,” said Coach Doug Case.
“We played great for the first three quarters and tried to give it away in the fourth,” Case said. “It took a four-play goal line stand to seal the victory.”
Foothill (3-6, 2-0) leads the league, followed by Brea Olinda (4-5, 2-1), El Dorado (3-6, 1-1) and Esperzana (1-8, 0-2).
Sophomore running back, Roman Pistone led Foothill with 93 yards rushing and a touchdown. Both Gabe Gallardo and Zackary Goral had TD receptions.
On defense, linebacker Dylan Ventress led the way with 17 tackles.
“We played well in all facets of the game but as the saying goes, ‘defense wins championships,’ and that’s what happened in the last minute of the game,” Case said.
Now, the Knights will focus on El Dorado.
“It’s a big week against El Dorado this Thursday to determine who gets into the playoffs,” Case said. “We are growing up every day and this will big a huge fork in turning point for the Knights Football program.
