Cypress boys basketball team was eliminated from the CIF 2AA playoffs Thursday night, losing to Notre Dame of Riverside 73-54 at Riverside.
Jared Brown scored 25 points, Clifton Patterson had 14 points and Christian Kim six points to lead the Centurions (27-3).
Notre Dame was led by Anthony Holland with 34 points and Julian Davis with 15 points. The Titans (21-10) move on to the semifinals Saturday against Mayfair.
Cypress ended a memorable season which included an Empire League title in which the Centurions were 10-0.
“We played our hearts out,” said Cypress Coach Derek Mitchell. “It was one of those games where we could not put the ball through the hoop after the first quarter. I am so proud our boys and the season they had. Notre Dame is a great team, congratulations to them for advancing.”

Capistrano Valley Christian 41, Salesian 35: The Eagles were led by Luke Powell, who scored 22 points. Capo Valley Christian (24-7) moves on to the 3A semifinals to face Palos Verdes Saturday at 7 p.m. at Mission Viejo High School. Capo Valley Christian will be the home team.
