About 1,500 runners expected to compete in 28th annual Irvine Half Marathon in Woodbridge

Woodbridge High boosters and representatives from Mascot Sports were busy Friday afternoon getting ready for the 28th annual Irvine Half Marathon which will be held on Saturday morning in Woodbridge.

About 1,500 runners are expected for the half marathon and 5K events. THe half marathon begins at 8 a.m. and the 5K race at 8:15 a.m. There is also a festival until 1 p.m. Saturday.

There is also a kick-off tonight at the Mike Ward Community Center, 20 Lake Road, Irvine.

OC Sports Zone will be covering the event and we encourage runners to have their pictures taken in groups after the run so we can publish this weekend on our website. There is no charge and our website is free to readers.
