“We were thrilled to come out of the tourney at HB with a final record of 4-0,” said CdM Coach Dan OShea on Monday.
CdM defeated San Clemente in the finals and Huntington Beach in the semifinals. San Clemente took second, Tesoro was third and Huntington Beach fourth.
“It was a terrific group of 12 teams that included us defeating San Juan Hills and Long Beach Wilson in pool play,” OShea said.
Cdm was led by two-way player junior player Tommy Griffin, a wide receiver and free safety. He had five touchdowns and secured the victory over San Clemente with a game ending interception, OShea said.
Senior strong safety Mason Gecowets and senior middle linebacker Cole Rener had “exceptional days on defense with pass deflections and interceptions,” OShea said.
Quarterback Ethan Garbers, wide receiver Bradley Schlom, tight end Mark Redman and wide receiver Simon Hall led the offense that averaged 36 points in the 40-minute games, OShea said.
“A great day for the seniors to wrap their last ever 7-on-7 tournament as a CDM Sea King,” OShea said.
