Bella Contreras threw four touchdowns passes to lead Rosary Academy’s girls flag football team to a 34-0 victory over Portola in a Pacific Coast League game Wednesday afternoon at Hydroflow Field in Fullerton. Contreras continues to have a huge season as the senior quarterback has thrown 64 touchdown passes in 20 games.
Contreras threw TD passes to K’lene Gutierrez, Sophie Lickl, Hannah Kelly and Hayden Huerta and. Huerta also caught a touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Hailey Huerta, her sister. Rosary Academy (13-7, 6-3) is currently in third place in league behind second-place Northwood and league-leading Woodbridge.
“It’s been an exciting season, we’ve played a lot of games, and the team is really playing well,” said Contreras.
Portola coach Julie Primero-De La Cruz said it’s been a learning process for her team (2-14, 0-10).
“We’re all learning, the coaches, the players and the referees,” said Primero-De La Cruz, “The girls play hard and we’re improving.”
