Western High’s star receiver/defensive back Caine Savage has committed to play football at University of Utah, Pioneers Coach Dan Davidson confirmed Tuesday.
He was recruited to be a cornerback and special teams player, Davidson said.
“After many official and unofficial visits, Caine decided the best place for him to further his education and playing career at the University of Utah.” Davidson told OC Sports Zone. “Coach Whittingham and Coach Shah made an impression with him the moment he met them. His visit felt like it was a family atmosphere on the team and throughout the community.”
Savage ended his playing career at Western with 285 catches for 4,622 yards, 55 receiving touchdowns five return touchdowns and three interception return touchdowns along with 16 career interceptions
He was first team all-county, CIF MVP and league MVP last season and this year was named league MVP.
“Caine is as special on the field as off,” Davidson said. “His attention to detail and wanting to improve daily is his driving force. Caine is being recruited to play cornerback and special teams at Utah.”
