University High School’s baseball team captured a 7-6 Pacific Coast League victory over Irvine Wednesday at Uni.
University (5-9-1, 3-6) was led by Alex Zive, who had a hit and two RBI, Cooper Berger, who had a hit and three RBI and Austin Barnett and Aaron Millman, who scored two runs each.

Berger pitched four innings for the Trojans, striking out five. Logan Rome came on in relief and was effective, pitching 2 2/3 innings, allowing one earned run. Jack McKenzie pitched 1/3 innings, striking out one to finish the game.
Irvine (4-10, 4-5) was led offensively by Caden Shaffer who was 2 for 4 with four RBI, a home run and two doubles; Tate Zimmerman, who was 2 for 4 with a run scored; Nathan Valencia, who was 1 for 3 with an RBI and Jeremiah Gedeon, who was 1 for 1 with an RBI. Bryan Wilhelm scored three runs for the Vaqueros.
The teams wrap up their series Thursday at Irvine.
