Irvine High School’s stellar running back Cameron Goods announced this week that he has committed to play college football at Black Hills State University in South Dakota.

Goods made the announcement on Twitter Thursday, saying “I’m proud and blessed to announce my commitment to Black Hills State University.”

Goods was named first team All-CIF Division 4 after leading the Vaqueros to the Pacific Hills League title. He was also selected as one of three offensive MVPs in the league. Goods rushed for 1,670 yards and 29 touchdowns and also caught seven passes and scored one TD.

“I always knew someone was going to find this diamond in the rough and Black Hills State is that someone,” Irvine Coach Tom Ricci said Friday. “For all the talent he has, he also has an amazing work ethic and is constantly working to better himself.

“On top of that, he is humble and a great teammate who wants the best for his team. He is going to do big things on the college level.”

Goods will play for the South in the Orange County all-star game Saturday night at Newport Harbor.

Black Hills State University competes on the NCAA Division II level.

In an interview in August, Goods said he hoped to have a chance to play college football one day.
