Opening ceremonies for the annual Irvine Pony Memorial Day Baseball Tournament are scheduled for Thursday, May 25 at Harvard Park in Irvine, according to Stacie Sloniger, tournament director.
The ceremony will start at 5:30 p.m. Games will continue throughout the Memorial Day weekend.
“This will be our 31st tournament and we are back in full swing,” Sloniger said. “We have 243 teams registered to date, this one of our biggest, not the biggest but pretty close. We have a huge turnout from Mexico. They are bringing 20 plus teams.”
