Santa Ana Valley High School’s football team, under first year coach Alfredo Macias, is preparing to open the season on the road Friday night against Savanna.
Macias, who was defensive coordinator at Segerstrom for Coach Joseph Tagaloa for seven years, replaces long-time coach Larry Mohr, who retired after the 2019 season.
“This year we are looking to be competitive with the leadership and play from our seniors and our underclassmen,” Macias said.
Here’s a look at some of the Falcons:
“Michael Vizcarra will be our talented two-way starter from his junior year where he played running back and defensive end,” Macias said.
“He will play multiple positions on defense and offense to use his physical presence. Â Enriquez Enriquez is returning as a starter on the defensive line, where he proved to be a dominant force.
“Marco Pina will anchor our offensive line as our returning starter. Two seniors that will make in impact are Joseph Henriquez, our outside linebacker and Edgar Valdiva, our wide receiver,.
“Our quarterback Alex Sixtos has shown great leadership skills in this abbreviated football season.”
Santa Ana Valley will play an abbreviated four-game schedule.
“Our program is excited to get the opportunity to play and compete and to feel some kind of normal again,” Macias said. “We look foward to growing both and off the field. It’s definitely and exciting time here at Valley high and we will make the best of the opportunity.”
