“We had to switch to going into a press because our guys weren’t playing defense, so that kind of changed it for us,” said Calvary Chapel Coach Jon Hughes. “I thought they came alive in the second half and played better defense.”

Hughes was also pleased with the play of Curran, who had four blocks and 10 rebounds, and of Peterson.

“He (Peterson) guarded their best player as well and in the second half, tried to shut him down,” Hughes said. “Tyler Peterson was our best player tonight.”

Lisati Vaiala scored 10 points and Alejandro Mena nine points to lead Saddleback (4-14, 0-3).

There was a solid turnout in the Saddleback gymnasium with most fans appearing to wear masks as part of health and safey protocal due to the coronavius pandemic. A sign at the entrance to the gym noted masks were required for spectators and there were also masks available along with sanitizer.
