Long-time Tustin High baseball coach Charles Chatman, who is moving to Iowa with his family for another job, will be honored Wednesday, May 26 after the Tillers final regular season game against Kennedy at the Orange County Great Park Stadium.
The game begins at 6 p.m.
The Tustin High seniors will be honored at approximately 5:45 p.m., accordng to Dick Owens of the Ryan Lemmon Foundation.
“After the game we will honor Charles with a few short remarks,” Owens said.
Among those scheduled to speak are Myron Miller (former Tustin football coach), Mike Cosgrove and Randy Wilson.
Senior players Daniel Ladd, Joe Alfelor and Charles son, Charles “Tre” Chatman III, are also scheduled to speak along with Tustin assistant coach Ben Owens, Dick Owens. Chatman will then make final remarks.
Fans are asked to wear a mask entering the stadium. Capacity will be limited to about 500, Owens added.
Tustin is 11-14 overall and in fourth place in the Empire League with a 3-6 mark.
Chatman announced earlier this month that he has accepted a full-time counseling and coaching job at a high school in Mount Vernon, Iowa which will allow him to pursue his passion in two fields.
