Santa Ana, El Modena, Tustin and Orange Lutheran notch tourney wins

Santa Ana High School’s boys basketball team won its second straight game to start the season, defeating Westminster 64-58 Wednesday in the Luis Macias Tournament at Santa Ana.

“It was a hard fought game and Westminster really brought the big guns,” said Santa Ana Coach Fareed ElMasry.

Santa Ana was led by Deaven Perez, who had 18 points and Jack Rivera, who scored 11 points. Westminster (1-1) was led by Kyle Halk with 14 points and Bryan Lai with 12 points.

Santa Ana opened the season Tuesday with a victory over La Quinta. (Click here for story and photos).

In other games tournament Wednesday, El Modena defeated La Quinta 76-52 and Tustin topped Godinez 45-18.

The 10-team tournament continues Thursday and wraps up Saturday.

ORANGE LUTHERAN 62, YORBA LINDA 39: The Lancers won the Rumble for Rosecrans Avenue Tournament game. Blake Brewer scored 15 points and Seth Brown 10 to lead Orange Lutheran.

Yorba Linda (2-1) was led by Jason Casacchia who scored 12 points.
