Long-time Northwood High baseball coach Rob Stuart, who led the program to 15 CIF playoff appearances and two league titles during his 21-year stint as the Timberwolves coach, has stepped down as head coach, according to Brandon Emery, Northwood co-athletic director.
Stuart will continue to teach ceramics and screen printing at Northwood.
“Doug Euper will be replacing the legendary baseball coach Rob Stuart at Northwood,” Emery said Tuesday. “Rob has put his heart and soul into the program and has seen tremendous success. Northwood baseball is better because of Rob and his guidance. Rob’s dedication to the players and program will be missed but we are confident that Doug will continue to build on the foundation that Rob has created.”
Euper was the acting coach this past season.
“I am so happy that Doug has been given an opportunity to lead this program,” Stuart said. “He is absolutely the right person to coach these young men. He did a great job taking over this season under very difficult circumstances.”
Stuart has been with the Irvine Unified School District for 25 years and coached for 30 years.
