VIlla Park and Upland softball teams put on quite a game for fans gathered at Deanna Manning Stadium Saturday night for the CIF Division 2 final.
The contest went extra innings, but Upland’s Emily Capobianco blasted a home run in the bottom of the ninth with one out to give Upland a 1-0 victory and the CIF championship.
There were exceptional pitching performances by Sydney Somerndike of Villa Park and Upland’s Sarah Haendiges. No. 2 Villa Park fell to 24-3 while No. 4-seeded Upland improved its mark to 25-2.
