It was a game that could not be over soon enough. For either team.
Newport Harbor scored twice in the first 82 seconds of the game and the Sailors went on to top the Vikings 52-7 in a game that was played with a running clock in the third quarter after a 50-minute first quarter.
Sailors’ quarterback Colton Joseph threw four TD passes, giving him seven in two games. Two of those scoring throws went to standout receiver Kashton Henjum (48, 54 yards) and the defense
intercepted three passes, Billy Ridley returning one 10 yards for a TD, and recovered two fumbles.

The Sailors also picked up four points on two safeties when snaps on Marina punt attempts sailed
over the punter’s reach and out of the end zone.
Marina’s best moment was a good one. Already trailing 21-0, Viking quarterback Peter Kim connected with Luke Lastra on a 77-yard pass-run play.
Both clubs are on the road in Week 2 games, Newport Harbor in an excellent matchup at JSerra. Marina is at Elsinore. Both games are on Friday.
