Calvary Chapel High School’s girls basketball team battled until the end but lost to Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary 48-44 in the quarterfinal round of the CIF 3A playoffs on the road Wednesday night.
Cantwell held a 26-21 halftime lead and led 34-30 going into the final stanza. The Eagles cut the lead to 45-42 with one minute left but could not get any closer.

Calvary Chapel point Guard Micaela Hanning the Eagles (24-7) with 20 points. Senior captain Chloe Zazueta added 12 points. Coach Jon Hughes team won the Orange Coast League title with a 12-0 record.
Cantwell was led by point guard Laila Salazar who scored 20 points. Marie Garcia Munoz added 15 points.
