Northwood High School water polo coach Kyle Kim-E was honored by the CIF Southern Section in a virtual presentation on Friday for his contributions outside of athletics.
“Each Friday we recognize on our social media platforms a ‘CIF-SS Hero of the Week,'” said Thom Simmons, assistant commissioner of the CIF. “That is simply somebody (a former, current athlete, coach, school, etc. from within the CIF-SS) that is making a difference in their community outside of athletics. We take nominations on our social media platforms and award somebody each week. Kyle was our award winner for last week.”
Kim-E led the Northwood girls water polo team to its first Pacific Coast League title in February.
Kim-E also helped the boys water polo team reach the semifinal round of the CIF playoffs in November.
Kim-E, who also coaches the boys water polo team, was a two-time league champion as a player at Northwood. He is also a full-time teacher at Northwood.
