Western High football Coach Dan Davidson has announced the Pioneers’ non-league schedule for 2020, which includes a game with CIF finalist Cypress and Los Alamitos from the Sunset League.
“We wanted to improve our schedule to challenge us to a level we believe we can achieve and playing these top teams is the way to reach our goal,” Davidson said.
“Los Alamitos, led by Coach Ray Fenton, is the way I would aspire to have my players act, play and the discipline it takes to be a champion.
“We felt keeping Huntington Beach and adding Cypress a CIF finalist, would help get us headed in that direction, with the ultimate goal to playing with the same fortitude as Los Alamitos.”
The Pioneers will play Chino in week zero then face Huntington Beach at home, Cypress, Los Alamitos and Artesia before having a bye in the fifth week.
The games against Chino, Huntington Beach and Los Alamitos will be home games. Cypress also uses Western High for its home games.
