One of the highlights of the school year was always the national letter of intent signing day in which high school athletes sign their letters to continue their careers in college and their coaches, teammates and parents shared in the excitement.
Woodbridge was one of the schools that always had a large number of athletes signing.
But with schools out and athletics canceled for the spring, Wednesday’s traditional signing ceremonies in front of big turnouts won’t be happening.
With the current restrictions in place, any signings would have be held at home.
“They (the colleges) will send the national letter of intent and then send them back,” said Woodbridge Athletic Director Rick Gibson.
Gibson said he was disappointed that school officials weren’t able to honor the seniors who were signing their letters.
“That’s the part I wish we could somehow make it happen but obviously we can’t,” Gibson said.
