Edison’s boys basketball team captured a big Surf League victory Wednesday night, defeating Newport Harbor 58-51, snapping the Sailors 17-game winning streak and moving into first place in the league.
Edison (17-7, 2-0) was led by Jack Horton who had 19 points and Kaden Headington, who scored 17 points.
Newport Harbor (21-2, 1-1) hosts Corona del Mar Friday night.

Tesoro 66, Laguna Hills 25: The Titans (16-4, 5-0) won their sixth in a row. Tyler LeFever had 16 points and 10 rebounds, Noah Honetschlager had 15 points and nine rebounds and Ty Broughton scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Corona del Mar 62, Los Alamitos 51: The Sea Kings (16-6, 1-1) avenged an opening league loss last week to Edison with a win at home. John Humphreys scored 13 points and Ethan Garbers had 11 points to lead the Sea Kings.
Kevin Kent scored 31 points and David Olcomendy had 16 points to lead Los Alamitos (7-13, 0-3).
