As a result of the Silverado Fire which has burned approximately 2,000 acres Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine, following recommendations from the Irvine Police Department, safely evacuated the entire campus, school officials said Monday morning. Campus officials announced the school will be closed on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
The fire has caused evacuations in the Orchard Hills community of Irvine.
Crean Lutheran’s Director of Marketing Karen Worthington said in a text that everyone on campus is OK and the campus is closed. All evacuations were safely completed, officials said.
The release to the Crean Lutheran community on Monday’s earlier evacuation noted:
“There is no immediate threat to our campus and at this time it is a recommendation from IPD, not a requirement; however, we are honoring the recommendation.”
The Orange County Fire Authority noted on its website that there are mandatory evacuations for Orchard Hills from Bake Parkway to Jamboree Road. The 241 is closed from Santiago Canyon to the 133, according to the website.
