Portola High School’s girls soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the Division 3 playoffs with a 1-0 victory over Mayfield Tuesday night in the quarterfinals at Portola.
No. 2-seeded Portola moves on to face Moorpark in the semifinals Friday in Moorpark.
Emma Song got the goal for Portola “as a result of great build-up play from Sarah Collins, Lorel Stringer and Lily Nesland,” said Coach Joshua Stringer.
The Bulldogs notched their 13th shutout of the season by the defensive unit nicknamed, “the magnificent M’s,” which includes midfielder Mirabella Allen-Aguirre, center backs Michaela Allen-Aguirre and Malaika Fawzi and goalkeeper Mia Linville, the coach added.
Portola also notched a 3-1 victory over Riverside Poly and a 3-1 win over Warren in the earlier rounds.
