“It was a great win for us,” Calvary Chapel Coach Jack McInally said Friday. “Estancia is a very good program and winning on homecoming night is always exciting for our guys. We started the game with a great drive capped off by a touchdown pass from Matt Peters to Gavin Ghahyasi.

“Charles Sparks really played a great game. He had a bunch of catches, as well as an incredible touchdown catch, and stepped up big time on defense. Coach Josh Cummings called a great game defensively and our guys really stepped up to the challenge. We knew we had to stop their run game in order to win and we did.”

Calvary Chapel (4-5, 3-2) remains in the hunt for the CIF playoffs with one more league game remaining next Thursday vs. St. Margaret’s at Segerstrom.

“We aren’t really focused on the playoffs right now, we are focused on St Margaret’s,” McInally said. “Beating Estancia definitely kept us alive for the playoffs though.”

Estancia dropped to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in league play.
