Woodbridge, Laguna Hills and Beckman registered Pacific Coast League baseball victories Wednesday afternoon.
WOODBRIDGE 11, PORTOLA 0: Woodbridge improved its league record to 4-1 with the victory.
Sean McCance was 2-for-3 with a run scored, three stolen bases and five RBI to lead the Warriors. Jaden Hoang-Tieu had a double, a run scored and an RBI and Daniel O’Hanlon pitched four innings, striking out six and allowing two hits to get the victory.
“Today was a good team win for us,” said Woodbridge Coach Ryan Brucker. “I was happy with our pitchers; they did a good job. Daniel O’Hanlon did an outstanding job in his first varsity start and earned his first career win. He had command of all his pitches and gave us four solid innings. Dylan Blakey, Max Pannier and Connor Tallakson were excellent out of the bullpen for us.” Â
BECKMAN 8, UNI 3: Nick McLain, Paul Murrow, and Blake Dimos each had two hits to lead the Patriots (4-1). Jacob Zamosky, Colin Rhee and Cade McGuire also had a hit.
Beckman got a strong pitching effort from Kyle Lee, who improved his 2-0 on the mound, allowing two hits over five innings, according to Beckman Coach Kevin Lavalle.
LAGUNA HILLS 10, NORTHWOOD 6: Billy Schellenberg pitched five nnings for the league-leading Hawks (5-0), striking out seven. He also went 3 for 4 at the plate.
Jordan Volk, who pitched one inning, got the victory.
Zach Ferranto was 4-for-5 with a double, triple and four RBI.
“Billy Schellenberg gave us a great start on the mound,” said Laguna Hills Coach Drew Hillman. “Zach Ferranto provided a spark offensively for us. Northwood competed every inning and we were lucky to get out of there with a win.”
