UC Irvine’s men’s basketball team improved its record to 3-0 in the Big West Conference and 11-8 overall defeating UC Riverside 69-53 Saturday night at the Bren Events Center.
Coach Russell Turner’s UCI team (11-8 overall) has now won 16 consecutive Big West games. The Anteaters are also the only undefeated team remaining in the Big West Conference.
UC Riverside fell to 2-2 in conference and 12-8 overall.
The Anteaters made 57.1 percent of their field goals and held UC Riverside to a season low 28.3 percent on field goals and 22.2 percent from 3-point range.
Evan Leonard led UCI with 13 points. John Edgar had nine points, five rebounds and three steals. Brad Greene had 11 points.
UCI plays Long Beach State Wednesday night at The Pyramid in Long Beach.
