IRVINE 4, NORTHWOOD 1: Irvine (6-7, 2-2) completed a two-game series sweep of Northwood with a win Friday at Northwood. Adam Valencia pitched a complete game one-hitter to earn the win. The Vaqueros had six hits. Valencia struck out seven and walked three and was also 2 for 3 at the plate with a run scored. Evan Tamayo was 1 for 3 with a run scored, Ethan Kim was 1 for 3 with an RBI, Alex Cho was 1 for 3 with two RBI and Hudson Hall was 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored.
Northwood is 4-6-1 overall and 1-2 in league.
Irvine won the opener of the series Thursday 3-1 at Irvine. Drake Brito pitched a complete game, striking out seven and allowing four hits. Tamayo was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI and Smith Spivey 1 for 3 for Irvine.
“We had two really great pitching performances by Drake Brito and Adam Valencia and some timely hitting,” said Irvine Coach Gabriel Cota. “Northwood is a really good team and coached very well by Ben Owens. We were able to play solid defense and had enough offense to give us a shot.”Â
Irvine hosts University Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in the start of a two-game series.

ESTANCIA 11, ORANGE 10: Estancia (6-5, 1-1) was led by Vaughn McCrea, who earned the win., McCrea (1-3) allowed one hit and struck out two in two innings. Sawyer Atkinson was 2 for 3 with a run scored, RBI, double and three walks; Athan Perez was 2 for 2 with three runs scored, an RBI and four walks, Nico Viramontes was 1 for 4 with two runs scored, three RBI and a double, Miles Dodge was 1 for 5 with an RBI and a double, McCrea was 1 for 2 with a run scored and a double and Jacob Ramirez was 1 for 4 with a run scored and a triple.
COSTA MESA 2, KENNEDY 1: The Mustangs (6-5, 2-1) were led by winning pitcher Wylan Rottschafer who struck out two and did not allow a hit in two innings. Will Clark pitched five innings, striking out five and allowing no earned runs and four hits. Rottshafer was 1 for 3 with a triple and an RBI, Aiden Comte was 1 for 4 with an RBI and Jack Shafer and Omar Gutierrez were each 2 for 3.

PACIFICA CHRISTIAN 13, THE WEBB SCHOOLS 1 (4 innings): Pacifica Christian (5-4, 3-0) was led by pitchers Luke Miller and Josiah Miller, who each pitched two innings. Luke Miller struck out four and Josiah Miller struck out five. Josh Peterson had three RBI and a triple, Rowen Gale had three RBI, Taisen Morishita had two RBI and Scout Escobedo had a home run.

VILLA PARK 3, CAPISTRANO VALLEY 1: The Spartans (8-3) were led by Owen Smith who earned the win in relief. Caden Krup got the save. Nate Lewis was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Shawn Romero was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Dom Gutierrez was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and Austin Park 1 for 2 with an RBI.
SANTA MARGARITA 16, DAMIEN 2: In a Thursday game, the Eagles were led by Gavin Spiridonoff who was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI. Liam Stuppy was 2 for 2 with two doubles and three RBI, Robby Mayer IV was 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBI and Lucas Owens was 1 for 3 with a home run and three RBI. Santa Margarita (6-2) lost to Los Osos 5-1 Friday.
