Dramatic fourth quarter comebacks and big rushing performances highlight week two

It was another exciting week of high school football in Orange County.

…. Charles Hughes of Santa Ana rushed for three touchdowns in the Saints 41-21 victory over Garden Grove Friday night. Santa Ana has a tough task Friday on the road against defending CIF champion Laguna Beach.

…. Junior Cooper Starnes scored six touchdowns to lead La Quinta past Saddleback 62-0 Thursday night at Bolsa Grande. Stearns tied the school record.

…. Irvine’s football team, coached by Tom Ricci, rallied from a fourth quarter deficit and pulled off a flea flicker for a touchdown to defeat Troy 43-42. The Vaqueros host Trabuco Hills Friday night.

….. University’s football team bounced back from a double overtime loss to Portola with a 21-7 victory over Los Amigos. Koa Saito and Blaine Anderson led the Trojans to the home win.

….. Trabuco Hills battled back from a four-point deficit to top Crean Lutheran 31-21 Friday night in a battle of top 25 OC teams. The Mustangs forced two big turnovers to win it. Crean Lutheran has a bye this week.

….. Segerstrom’s football team won its third in a row, defeating California of Whittier 34-14 Friday night. The Jaguars hosts El Modena Friday night.
