Coach’s comment: “Starting the season with a win is a great payoff for all the hard work our guys put in to preparation, especially against a solid Godinez squad,” said Coach Marcello Giuiliano.
“Clearly, there’s a lot to clean up since it was our first outing, but I was pleased that we played good team football; we had a lot of contributors in all phases of the game.
This week’s game: vs. Santa Ana Valley, Friday 7 p.m. at Santa Ana Valley.
“Valley is running a new spread offense; their QB has a strong arm and they have several kids that can catch and run, so this will be a completely different test for our defense from last week,” Giuliano said.
“As always, they have a big, physical defensive front and they make it hard to generate big plays. We need to improve our offensive and defensive fundamentals this week in order to give ourselves an opportunity for success.”

Coach’s comment: “It was an awesome battle with a very physical team,” said Coach Doug Case. “We were down 21 points early and we put ourselves back in the game. I was very proud of the way the team handled themselves and kept their composure through a rough start to the game. We’re beginning to show the maturity that will be needed to have a successful season.”

This week: Foothill vs. Tustin, Friday at 7 p.m. at Northrup Field.

“Tustin week. We are always up for this game and it should be another epic battle for the crosstown rivals,” Case said. “Both teams have many underclassmen playing. Most of these kids know each other and they will be talking about this game the rest of their lives. We’re excited to be a part of it all.
