Orange County boys basketball highlights and final scores for Friday, Feb. 2

PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE TOURNAMENT

University 89, Laguna Hills 86 (Double OT): University escaped with a win in the seventh place game of the PCL post season tournament at Portola Friday.

University (8-19, 2-8) led virtually the entire first four quarters until Reese Burnham hit a short shot with seconds before the horn to tie the game at 71 apiece at the end of regulation.

Laguna Hills (1-25, 0-10) had only seven players due to injuries and led in both the overtime and double overtime periods.

University, missing three starters due to injuries, went ahead to stay by one on a bucket by Savion Ruth. McKay Nelson sealed the game with a late defensive rebound in traffic and a pair of free throws.

Shervin Moarrefian led the Trojans with 38 points, nine three-pointers and four assists. Three University players had double-doubles.

McKay Nelson had a career high 18 points (four threes), 13 rebounds and five blocks. Savion Ruth finished with 15 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists.  li Pretto added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Carter Eley led the Hawks with 25 points, followed by Miles Mittlesteadt (18 points) and Jackson Burnham (16 points), each one making four three-pointers.

Woodbridge 47, Sage Hill 44: The Warriors won the PCL championship game.

Northwood 66, Beckman 55: The Timberwolves took third place with the victory.

Irvine 71, Portola 51: The Vaqueros clinched a CIF playoff berth, the first for the program since the 2014-15 season.

SOUTH COAST LEAGUE

San Clemente 64, Trabuco Hills 57: Porter Hansen and Christian Fernandez scored 18 points each and Will Whidden had 14 points, nine rebounds and five blocks for the league champion Tritons, who went 8-0 in league.

San Juan Hills 65, Tesoro 57: The Stallions (18-10, 5-3) finished second place in the South Coast League. Nate Brosch scored 12 points, Mason Hodges had 10 points and Jack Tetley nine points.

San Juan Hills opens the CIF playoffs Wednesday.
