Northwood High School’s baseball team helped its chances of reaching the CIF playoffs with a 4-1 Pacific Coast League victory over Irvine Saturday at Irvine.
Freshman Paul Grossman threw a complete game two-hitter striking out 11, according to Coach Doug Euper. Bobby Bangs went 2 for 4 with an RBI and Ahmad Kazi went 1 for 3 with two RBI to lead Northwood (10-14, 8-7). The Timberwolves are in third place in the PCL.
Jeremiah Gedeon drove in the run for Irvine (7-15, 5-8).
The teams play again Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Northwood.
