Jacob Sears had seven receptions for 66 yards and two touchdowns for Irvine (1-7, 1-2). The Vaqueros moved out to a 22-0 halftime lead.

Kade Zimmerman had four receptions for 20 yards and one TD.  He also had an interception for a TD on defense.

Max Lanzaorreana had two interceptions on defense.

“A lot of different guys contributed to the win,” said Coach Tom Ricci. “It was great to see our defense finally play like I know they can.  Three interceptions with one for a TD was nice to see.  It’s always nice to get a homecoming win in front of the alumni.

“We are banged up so we will be on the mend this week.  We know we have a tall order to fill next week against Portola.  We are hoping to heal up before Friday. “

Irvine plays at Portola Friday night while University (0-8, 0-3) meets Woodbridge at Uni. Uni will be the home team.
