San Clemente (Division 3) and Godinez (Division 5) earned No. 1 seeds for the CIF boys volleyball playoffs that begin Wednesday.
There are 218 teams competing in the playoffs which wrap up on Saturday, May 11. The Division 1 final will be held at Cerritos College while locations for the finals in Divisions 2-7 will be announced later.
A number of other OC teams are seeded in the top four of their playoff divisions. Corona del Mar is third and Newport Harbor is fourth in Division 1. Loyola is seeded first and Mira Costa second.
Santa Margarita is seeded third in Division 2, Fountain Valley is second and St. Margaret’s third in Division 3.
Division 1 is a pool play format with opening round matches on Wednesday, April 24. Pool A consists of Loyola, Newport Harbor, Huntington Beach and Mater Dei, Pool B includes Mira Costa, Corona del Mar, Tesoro and Edison.
First round matches for the other divisions begin on Thursday, April 25 except for Division 6 which begins on Saturday, April 27.
Godinez, the Golden West League champion, opens on Thursday at home at 6 p.m. against the winner of the Hawthorne vs. Jordan wild card match.
