Loara’s baseball team, which clinched the Garden Grove League title on Tuesday, wrapped up league play with a 10-4 victory over Rancho Alamitos Thursday. The Saxons (17-7 overall) finished 15-0 in league and open the CIF playoffs next week.

“We swung the bat really well with 12 hits, five doubles and triple,” said Coach Shaun Hill. “Everything was clicking for us today we really wanted to finish the perfect league record going 15-0 .

Matt Blackney pitched six innings allowing four hits and one run and struck out four.

“He threw good, not his best day but but after struggling getting ahead of the count early innings settled down nicely,” Hill said.

Jose Saldana was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI and a walk.

Bryan Salas was 3 for 3 with a two-run double and Louis Banda was 2 for 3 with a walk and three runs scored.

“It was a special senior day for our boys big crowd and celebrating being a league champion and finishing the job of being 15-0,” Hill said.
