Foothill gets ready to take the field for a game this season against Tustin.
FOOTHILL (1-2)
Last week: Foothill beat Beckman, 30-6.
Offensive player of the week:Â Roman Pistone, 11 carries for 90 yards and three touchdowns.
Defensive player of the week:Â Justin Krantz, seven tackles, two sacks and a deflection
Special teams player of the week:Â Chad Dupre, two punt returns for 15 yards that gave the Knights excellent field position.
Coach’s comment: “The game was an improvement in all facets,” said Coach Doug Case. “Offensively we were able to stay balanced as in being able to run and pass. Defensively, we kept them out of the end zone allowing just two field goals and we registered our first safety of the season. Special teams, especially in the punt return, we executed our job to not let the punt hit the ground and lose crucial yards.”
This week: Foothill has a bye. “This week is a bye week so we are able to get healthy and focus on our success and next opponent,” Case said.
TUSTIN (1-2)
Last week’s score: Riverside/Notre Dame 45, Tustin 41.
Offensive players of the week: Senior Nick Mierez had 15 carries for 125 yards, sophomore Josh Carlos had three catches for 84 yards and two touchdowns
Defensive player of the week: Junior Elyjah Siofele, defensive tackle.
Coaches comment: “We came out and got behind early, down 21-0 in the second quarter, but the defense put together some stops and our offense did a great job pushing the ball down the field,” said Coach Myron Miller. “We came up a bit short at the end but I’m proud of the effort in coming back and having a chance to win the game at the end.”
This week’s game: Tustin plays at Palm Springs (1-2) Friday night. “They’ve got a big offensive line and they run the ball fairly well,” Miller said. “We’ve had a good week of practice thus far and hope we can carry that over into the game on Friday.”
