Cypress High’s boys basketball had a busy weekend.
The Centurions had their usual Empire League game against Pacifica winning 70-46.
Coach Derek Mitchell’s team also took part in the Ron Massey Tip-off Classic on Saturday at Long Beach City College. The Centurions defeated Cerritos 58-53.
Christian Chai led a balanced attack with 16 points, Eddie Spencer had 13 points with three 3-pointers. Kody Papke added 11 points and three 3-pointers while Elijah Vaielua contributed 12 points and 16 rebounds.Â
Cypress (14-5, 2-0) hosts Crean Lutheran on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in an Empire League showdown with first place on the line. Cypress, Crean Lutheran and Valencia are tied for first place in the league with 2-0 marks.
Cypress then travels to the Staples Center Thursday to play against West Torrance, then finishes up the week on Friday at Kennedy.
