Brea Olinda’s boys basketball team captured a 53-35 non-league victory over Valencia Monday night at Brea Olinda.
Brea Olinda (8-6) was led by Tristan Montera, who scored 17 points and Ivin Rhaburn, who scored 16 points. Garret Brookman added 12 points.
Valencia (12-2) was coming off a big Saturday after winning the Lodinez Tournament title.
Godinez 80, Calvary Chapel Santa Ana 33: The Grizzlies (8-5) had a balanced scoring attack led by Andrew Valdez, who had 28 points in the non-league game.
George Te had 11 points, Joseph Valdez 10 points and Roger Aquino nine points for Godinez.
Godinez will return to action on Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Estancia Classic vs. El Rancho High.
Tustin 49, Segerstrom 39: The Tillers (11-3) were led by Kyan Patel with 18 points and five 3-pointers. Jason Naranjo added 10 points for Tustin.
El Segundo 60, Loara 46: Senior Guard Dakota Nanthavongdoungsy led Loara (2-12) with 23 points as he converted on 15 of 16 free throws in the first round of the Anaheim Tournament. His cousin senior forward Tyler Nanthavongdoungsy contributed 10 points and added six rebounds for the Saxons.
Coming off a successful football season for Loara, junior center Ahmed Hassanein had four points and led Loara with seven rebounds.
Loara plays South El Monte Friday in the second round at 3 p.m. at Anaheim.
