The South extended its winning streak to 10 games over the North with a 14-7 victory Saturday night at Orange Coast College in the 65th annual All-Star Classic presented by Costa Mesa United.
South quarterback Vanden Dugger (Dana Hills) connected with Campbell Schamel (Tesoro) on a 46-yard TD pass with 6:03 left and the South defense blanked the North the rest of the way.
The South took the early lead on a 4-yard TD run by Tommy Acosta (Capistrano Valley) in the first quarter. The North tied the game 7-7 on a 2-yard TD run by Nate Lewis (Villa Park) in the second quarter.
The South MVP was Tanner Rohan from San Juan Hills who was solid on defense and the North MVP was Ulavai Fetuli from La Habra.
Beckman’s Marcello Giuliano coached the South and Zack LaMonda of El Dorado coached the North.
Organizers of the game should be pleased with the turnout at the game, although an attendance figure was not announced. Proceeds will help support charities that Costa Mesa United supports.
A thank you was also given to the Los Angeles Chargers for their support.
